HISTORY CAPTURED
Through a New Lens
Historical buildings are quite easily the best application for our 3D laser scanning and Revit modeling capabilities. You know this already, old buildings have seen a lot over the years and tend to bare few typical elements throughout. Particularly in an adaptive re-use case, intense 3D laser scanning services capture all finite to large scale anomalies, which can then be translated to relevant and useful information in 2D or 3D AutoCAD or Revit.
Our team is adept at decoding these particularly complex historical buildings. It takes way more than an expensive 3D laser scanner and a Revit license to extract and deliver useful information from a century old building. We use Architectural IQ to make hundreds of decisions throughout the drafting and modeling process, all intent on delivering the most meaningful information in the right form for a diverse consultant team.
The Value of a Digital 3D Record
When we laser scan a building, the data is kept indefinitely and can be resurrected. Two years after we delivered pre and post demolition Revit and AutoCAD as-built documentation for a historic hotel project in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), the Developer needed to recreate important historical details damaged during the demolition phase. With one phone call, our team identified the key areas that required documentation and fully scoped the project. The pre-demolition scan data perfectly preserved all key areas with incredible detail. Our resulting as-built documentation enabled the Architect to achieve results otherwise impossible:
